Policies

Listed below are a few of our most important policies to consider before referral to our facility. All policies are subject to change following MA DPH guidance and site-specific safety needs.

Safety is Our #1 Priority

Safety is our number one priority. As such, Ellen Rice Rest Home, Inc. is licensed with the State of Massachusetts DPH and follows national and state health and safety guidelines. We facilitate vaccination clinics for our residents and staff. Residents must have a yearly physical.

We have a zero tolerance policy for non-prescribed substance use such as alcohol, illicit drugs, and misuse of prescription drugs; fire hazards such as smoking in non-designated areas; violence; hate crimes; and other hazardous behavior that threaten the safety of the individual resident or any other resident, staff, or visitor to the rest home or the community. Visitors are also subject to these policies and the resident's status will be reviewed if visitors are in violation. We believe in treatment of underlying factors contributing to these behaviors, and we will consult with the resident's community and clinic partners and treatment team if resident engages in unsafe behavior. If residents are unable to safely follow rest home policies, we will recommend and help refer residents to more appropriate level of care. As a last resort, if necessary for the safety of residents, staff, and the community, legal action may be taken.

Please consider your client's ability to comply with these health and safety policies before referring your client to our level of care; higher level of care is available and may be more appropriate for your client's success.
